Trosten floating sauna, Oslo, Norway. 2024
Trosten is a floating sauna commissioned by Oslo Badstuforening and designed by Estudio Herreros, the architecture firm behind the new Munch Museum. Trosten is Oslo’s first floating sauna with universal accessibility, ensuring that it is accessible by people with mobility challenges, in line with the association’s vision of “sauna for the people.”
Its triangular amphitheater form causes uneven weight distribution. DIFK adjusted the platform’s ballast to ensure level floating conditions on the water.
Trosten is part of the ongoing development of the Harbor Promenade, which now offers 9 kilometers of public waterfront trails, swimming spots, and recreation areas year-round.
