Ravnkloa pedestrian bridge. trondheim. norway. 2014.

The project is a study, aiming to establish contact between the city centre and the coastline in Trondheim, with Ravnkloa as site.

The bridge crosses the canal from Ravnkloa to the pier that reaches out in the fjord. The bridge has an understated appearance with a spectacular feature. In the stowed position the bridge exceeds in an accessible slope from the pier level to provide small boats to pass under the bridge, and pedestrians and bicycles over the bridge. In order to open for bigger boats, the whole bridge is lifted, creating a 25 m high platform with a breathtaking view of the city roof landscape and and into the fjordland. In this way the historical line of sight between Nidaros Cathedral and Munkholmen is restored.
