Ruten Public plaza. Sandnes. Norway. 2009-2020.

In collaboration with Spacegroup Arkitekter AS we participated in the competition for developing Ruten in Sandnes. With the project “Lysning” we won the competition. Ruten is an important hub for public transport in Sandnes city centre.

The big open space in the middle of the circle can be used for different activities like concerts, circus tent and a meeting point for travelers and locals. A basement car park will be established to relieve the parking in the city centre. The structural concept of the circle formed roof is a continuous steel plate balanced on thin columns. The proposal incuded a significant modification of the current rail situation.
