Trestykker timber pavilion. oslo. norway. 2009.
Trestykker is an annual workshop organized by architecture students from all Norwegian architecture schools, rotating between the institutions. In 2015, AHO hosted the event, which took place at Vinkelplassen near Majorstua. A group of six AHO students led 30 participants from AHO, NTNU, NMBU, and BAS.
The goal is to provide students with hands-on construction experience and create a professional meeting point across the schools. The project, titled Pusterom (Breathing Space), aimed to activate the urban space with a pavilion that invites people to stay and relax. It consists of benches around three column clusters supporting a roof, with hanging battens creating an intimate atmosphere.
The battens, made from 98 x 98 mm structural timber, are both load-bearing and spatially defining, and are bolted to the roof beams. DIFK contributed as structural advisors and follow up on-site. The result is a vibrant student-led project that revitalized Vinkelplassen.
